I am Sam Rowan
(Sue Brophey’s son). I think she is a great mother,
even if she’s sometimes cranky in the morning and
snores in a funny way, (zzzz PUH! zzzz PUH!) but I don’t
need to worry about that because I don’t sleep in
the same room as her.
One of my oldest memories with
my mom is not really my fondest, plus I hardly remember
it because it was so long ago. My younger sister had
been born pretty recently, and I’m sure most people
know that when another child is born, the older one
sometimes would feel left out. My mom did not want me
to feel left out, so she decided to take me to a coffee
shop, just the two of us for some special time together.
(I don’t know why, but I liked coffee shops when
I was little, even though I didn’t drink coffee).
My mom had gotten herself a coffee, but then she accidentally
spilled some coffee on my hand! I don’t quite
remember how that happened, but even though it hurt
I always like it when I get to spend time with my mom.
I’m just more careful when she has coffee.
My mom does have a pretty cool
job, she’s the producer of a small show called
CANADIAN IDOL! She’s also the shows audience fluffer
(which is a person who comes out during commercial breaks
and warms up the audience by doing a number of things).
I
don’t find it too awkward that that is my mom
doing all these crazy things on stage. The only time
I find it a bit embarrassing is when she comes up to
us and says, “Now who are you guys?” as
if she didn’t know who we were. Fortunately for
me, that only happened once, and that time, my sister
answered that question by saying, “Get away from
me!” I don’t mind any of this because we
always laugh a lot about the crazy stuff.
Another
thing you’ll want to know about my mom is that
whenever she does karaoke, she goes crazy, but she’s
having fun and doing what she likes to do, and that’s
what’s important. She’s a fun mom.
Love,
Sam Rowan
